Western
Bible College
William Jordan
Things have never been better
William Jordan used to
do crack cocaine. Today, he is active in church, has a good job
and attends Western Bible College in Phoenix. In the early 1990s,
Jordan’s life was in shambles. Realizing he might end up in
prison or dead, he made a promise: “Lord, if You do something
with me, You’ve got me.”
He went to a Sacramento
men’s outreach where he committed his life to Christ. For
four years he was sober, involved in church and employed. He even
married. Life was great; but it didn’t last.
“I dabbled in drugs
again,” he admits. “Instead of turning to the Lord I
tried to solve problems myself.”
Wanting to fulfill his
promise to God, Jordan enrolled in and completed Teen Challenge’s
drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. He picked up the pieces
of his life and everything seemed fine, but he did drugs yet again.
Ashamed, but even more
determined to overcome his addiction, he entered Teen Challenge
in Phoenix for restoration. He continues to be drug free.
Jordan’s marriage
improved. He found steady employment and became involved at his
church where he teaches Sunday school, leads a Bible study group
and is on the prayer team. Life is only getting better.
Last fall, Jordan, at
41, enrolled at WBC where he is pursuing an associate’s degree
in biblical studies. The college’s schedule and course offerings
are a perfect fit for Jordan’s busy schedule.
“Going back to
school this late in life is exciting,” he says. “It’s
challenging too, but it gives me focus.”
Jordan’s instructors
have encouraged him and made an impact on him intellectually and
spiritually.
“They have a heart
for people and the Word of God,” he says. “That passion
spills over onto the students. Now, I have a vision for my life
and I want to reach the world with the gospel.”
