Change

I was shopping for a TV recently. There are so many choices — plasma, LCD, tube, digital, high definition, analog, 4:3 ratio, 16:9 ratio, and about every size you can imagine.
The salesman informed me that by sometime in 2007 all TV transmission will be in high definition. Everything is going digital. Many companies have shut down their tube manufacturing plants. The TV of choice is a 16:9, high-definition LCD.
All this information and change was shared just because I wanted to buy a cheap TV for my grandsons to play video games on in our upstairs game room. I really learned more than I wanted or needed.
Our society is in the fast lane of change. In many areas, change seems to be almost an addiction. We need to evaluate if we are changing just for change sake, or if we are changing to improve.
My personal passion is to draw closer to Jesus — to reach, stretch and improve to become my very best for Him.
In the Book of Hebrews we find a detailed explanation of change. It was a change from the Old Covenant to the New. In Hebrews we find that Jesus Christ is better than the angels (2:4). He is better than Moses (3:3). He is a better High Priest (4:14). He has a better covenant (10:1-10). Each of these comparisons points to a change for the better.
But Hebrews concludes with a promise that represents the greatest consistency in our lives. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8, NKJV).
Thank God that in our ever-changing world we have His constancy in our lives.
