Defeating stress

August 7, 2006

By Croft M. Pentz

Stress is the result of conflict, fatigue, frustration, failure or exhaustion. Someone said, “Problems in your health aren’t what you eat, but what’s eating you.”

Stress will affect your relationship with God. If not controlled, it can lead to spiritual, emotional and physical breakdown.

Jesus told His followers, “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat” (Mark 6:31, KJV). Relaxation is a must!

The Psalmist said when giving our burdens to the Lord, He’ll care for us (Psalm 55:22). The Lord knows about your feelings (Hebrews 4:15). When carrying your own burdens alone, you create much stress.

David said, “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice” (2 Samuel 22:7). Jesus invites you to come, finding rest for your souls (Matthew 11:28-30).

Faith in God removes stress. It creates complete trust in Him. It brings stability, and you’ll be able to stand all the pressures of life.
