Divorce

June 13, 2006

By Croft M. Pentz

Divorce is an epidemic. It is estimated that half of all marriages will eventually end in divorce. Even marriages within churches share similar statistics.

Divorce not only hurts a husband and wife, but the immediate and extended families as well. It leaves a lifelong scar on children. In many cases, divorce is harder to cope with than death.

Does God forgive the divorced? Certainly. Regardless of the past, when one truly repents, God forgives (1 John 1:9). He forgives the past, allowing us to start a new life.

Divorce is a stigma to some. They are forgiving to the murderer, the drunkard, prostitute, homosexual and other sinners. But they refuse to forgive the divorced. This is unscriptural.

Jesus forgave a woman married five times (John 4:1-30). He forgave a woman guilty of adultery (John 8:2-11). He loves the divorced. He will forgive, giving you His joy, peace and assurance of heaven. Call upon Him today.
