Prayers of gratitude

May 2, 2006

By Andy Wood

Our Vision Team Prayer Meeting is injecting new life into our church. We recently used Romans 12 as a wonderful prayer model. Try it out. It will bless you!

Read Romans 12:1,2. Pray, “Thank You, Lord, for being our model for showing mercy. Help me to show mercy in light of Your mercy.”

Read verses 3-8. Pray, “Thank You, Lord, for making yourself low on my behalf. You became lower than the angels as an example to me. Thank You for becoming a servant, a teacher and encourager and for showing me how to give. Show me how I am to work with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Help me to be more like You in servanthood, in teaching others what You have taught me, and in encouraging others.”

Read verses 9-13. Pray, “Thank You for Your love, Jesus. You came toward me with fervor and You even now intercede for me. You have been the supreme example of hospitality, and You are the One who meets all my needs. Help me to love unconditionally as You love me. Show me how to seek out those who feel unloved. Help me to show hospitality to those in need and help me to be Your arms of benevolence.”

Read verses 14-21. Pray, “Thank You, Lord, for withholding wrath so that I could receive forgiveness. While I was still an enemy of God, You took care of me. Thank You, Lord, that You overcame evil so that I too might overcome the evil one. Teach me, Lord, day by day to live at peace with my neighbors, family, friends and even those who hate me. Help me not to want evil done to those who do evil to me. Cause me to have a pure heart toward my enemies.”

“Show me how to accomplish all these things through Your Spirit so that I might live an example toward others. Amen.”
