Dare to trust

We all go through times when we wonder if God can really be trusted. When we see bad things happening to good people. When the good die young. When the trials we face never seem to end.
Satan does all he can to diminish our trust in God, and he is always at work to undermine our relationships with others and with God. Throughout our lives the enemy of our souls will try to shake our faith with fear, doubt, lack of confidence and any other means he can find to shift our trust away from Christ toward anything else.
The Psalmist knew that nothing in this life could really keep him safe. “I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me” (Psalm 44:6, KJV). In all the variables of life, there is only one constant — God himself.
God has already demonstrated He is willing to go to any length to help us. “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32, NIV).
Christ alone can give us hope, freedom, endless possibilities and the confidence to live every day in victory no matter what we come up against. God wants us to run to Him for the confidence and strength we need when challenges come our way. We can’t handle them alone, but with Christ we can experience the victory He already claimed for us at Calvary.
The better we know God, the better we will trust Him. The more we immerse ourselves in His Word and spend time in one-on-one communion with God, the more we will discover how trustworthy He is.
On the other hand, the more we hold God at arm’s length, the harder it will be to trust Him. We can begin that journey of trust right now by taking another step toward God. He promises to draw closer to us in return.
We can dare to trust.
